Welcome to Shooting Stars, the perfect place for young aspiring dancers aged 5 to 11 to discover the magic of ballroom and Latin dance in the local village of Tiptree, Colchester. Our Shooting Stars classes are designed to nurture their creativity, confidence, and coordination in a fun and supportive way.

We believe that you learn the best whilst you’re having fun which is why during our classes, we engage the children in exciting activities that keep them motivated and excited to learn more. From an upbeat Cha-cha to the smooth English Waltz, children will learn over 10 different dance styles that are both fun and help them grow as people.
Ballroom and Latin dancing is a fantastic way to improve physical fitness. Children will develop better balance, coordination and flexibility, all while having a great time moving to music.
Ballroom Dancing especially is a social activity that teaches children the importance of teamwork and cooperation. They'll learn to work in partners when dancing as a duo and will learn to work as a larger group when we make up our own dances. Each class is an opportunity to work together and build friendships.

Life Skills Through Dance

Our Shooting Stars Class provides an exciting chance for children to develop important life skills and have fun through the art of dance. By joining our class, your child will:

Develop Discipline and Focus: Dance routines teach children concentration, hard work, and dedication.

Building Resilience: Persevering through and mastering steps builds a confidence in children that encourages a positive attitude to be taken towards the next challenge that comes their way.

Encourage Creativity: Ballroom Dancing is a wonderful outlet for creativity. We have 10 different dances in Ballroom and Latin, some of which are slow and smooth, others are fast and fierce. This variety allows each child to gain a more varied foundation, allowing them to show their creativity however they like.

Dance Exams and Competitions

In addition to life skills, our Children's Classes take regular (yet completely optional) Medal Examinations and an annual Dance Competitions in order to celebrate their progress. These events are a fantastic way for children to use their hard work to gain confidence doing something they wouldn't usually do. Whether your child is just starting their dancing journey or if they are looking to take their dancing to the next level, we will help guide and support them every step of the way.
